CALFRESH
FOR SENIOR CENTERS AND DELIVERED MEALS
CalFresh (formally Food Stamps) may
pay for meals at dining facilities (senior centers) or for home-delivered meals using their EBT card if the person is: Sixty (60) or older, housebound, physically handicapped,
or disabled and cannot prepare their meals, Living
alone or only with a spouse, and Not living in
a boarding house or institution. Also, if one spouse is eligible to buy delivered meals with CalFresh, the other spouse
is also eligible regardless of age or disability status. SSI/SSP
recipients are not eligible to CalFresh as California is a “cash out” state, where SSI/SSP payments already include
money to supplement the food budget.
The
Middletown Senior Center will be able to accept EBT cards after the first of the year should you want to use your card to
give a donation for your meal at the Center or for home-delivered meals. Contact the office for
more information. 987-3113
